The consensual sex story is completely fucked up. I’d love to know is sex under false pretences illegal here too? Because if it is I think every single man (and woman probably) in Ireland could be locked up for something.

Yeah, I wonder has anyone in the history of procreation ever actually had sex that it wasn’t under false pretences to one degree or another?

No such thing as sex under false pretenses over here-you can big yourself up to the extent of your imagination but as long as they consent to sex you’re kosher.
What you can’t do is deceive someone as to the “quality of the act”. There was a case back in the day where a doctor had convinced his patient he was performing some kind of gynecological examination and when somebody had a word in her ear she brought a successful case for rape. Tough trick to pull off these days I reckon.

Hot off the press from the preview of this week’s Irish Catholic newsletter (I’m on the mailing list – don’t ask):
“The unexplained curing of a woman at Knock 21 years ago may be set to become the first official miracle linked to the Co.Mayo shrine in its 131-year history.”
Miracles, Mayo, figured it was up your alley.
