Can anyone guess what I do for a living?
In a time when there was no internet, no DVDs, no television, no amplified music. Would I have paid to see a French man fart in a theatre. Yeah, fuck it. Why the hell not?

I don’t get monty python in general, but the bit in the holy grail where the french dude shouts ‘i fart in your general direction’ is a classic. After scraping my brain for 20 seconds before my weetabix, that’s the only connection i can make between the french and farts. Maybe u were a paid cinema critic when that movie was released? Hypothetically, of course.

@ Darragh – You don’t get Monty Python? Come on. This is like my friend who once told me he didn’t get Father Ted. I was like, he’s kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse! What’s to get!?
@ Conal – My favourite line is the very next one where he’s so disillusioned by the bloodshed in the First World War that he abandons his career as a professional public farter. The horror. The horror.

Just read the alternate on the picture. ‘Fartiste’ quality toilet humour.

@ Kevin – Ohh, featuring Leonard Rossiter too!
@ Chris – I dunno, if it came down to a choice between French ladies taking their clothes off or a French man farting in public… I know which I’d have preferred.

Oh right there’s a link there that I didn’t see; I read this post on my phone. Re: Monthy Python – I understand that there’s nothing to get. Just never found it funny the same way I find other surreal stuff like Vic and Bob and Father Ted funny.

Some of the sketches are quite dated now, but surely you liked the films?
