Quadrivium (2010)
On Friday, Conor Walsh, a very talented minimalist/ambient piano composer from Swinford, Co. Mayo, will play Dubin as part of the Hard Working Class Heroes. When I knew Conor, through football, in our mid-teens, we were into Nirvana, ripped jeans, girls, Gaelic football and cider (in roughly that order.) It was far from Michael Nyman, in other words. He plays the Mercantile on Dame Street on Friday evening at 7.30pm.

fair play to him..have played in a band that did this festival before but seemed to me at the time more of excuse for the organisers to have a job then beneficial for the bands per se..what make thee of the james horan appointment?

To my shame I’ve never been to any HWCH event before (not even when my then girlfriend was playing it one year) but thinking of popping along to see Conor.
Re: Horan. Has done very well with Ballintubber & was always going to be a popular choice. The Mayo job is a massive step up though and I wonder if, no more than Roy Hodgson, he might struggle to adapt.

Ya it’ll be interesting to see how he fairs out (I mean Horan, not Conor, I’m sure he’ll be fine). A bit of youth and perspicacity could go a long way..
