Blog
THIS IS FUNNY
Remember Max, the well-connected ‘gapper’ whose short-lived blog provoked such outpourings of bile on the Guardian’s website last year? Well imagine if young Max was back and was making music that was, like, a mixture of acoustic, funk, pop and light-hearted drum n’ base… Yeah? But it’s not a joke. Steve Appleton, apparently, is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter whose debut album, When The Sun Comes Up, is out in July on Sony Music. Yet there are moments when the guy’s twattishness is just so exquisitely manifested that, one has to suspect, either Messers Gervais, Morris or Brooker has had a hand in his creation.
But they haven’t. Steve is 100% genuine. His debut single Dirty Funk is predicted to become one of the hits of the summer. You can check out the video here. Think Andy Sandberg impersonating Chesney Hawkes. In a Heineken commercial. With a fake Jamaican accent. I really hope its not a hit. Because if it is, the world is going to crucify this kid.
Update: more on Steve Appleton here.
Update 2: If anyone is wondering why I’m re-running this post from last month, it’s because my blog was (very surprisingly) name-checked on Popbitch today. Getting a lot of hits from that direction now, so I thought this might amuse those mean-spirited Popbitch readers!

Wouldn’t be the 1st,2nd or 3rd(etc) time you re-ran a story!

Oh my. My favourite part is when he tells us to “entr-ey” his studio. I bet that’s how he gets all the laydeez.
