“YOU KNOW THE WAY LIFE ISN’T FAIR, RIGHT?”
My phone is ringing. It’s Aidan. I might have guessed. “You know the way life isn’t fair..?” he asks. As opening gambits go, this is one of his better efforts. (The last time he rang with bad news, he said “You were never too fond of that coffee table, were you?”)
Immediately, my mind races through all sorts of horrific possibilities. Aidan has run over my dog. Aidan has impregnated my sister. Aidan has murdered my pregnant sister and run over my dog while making his getaway… It’s almost a relief when he coughs up the truth. Read the rest of this article.

Anyone else see Sepp Blatter laughing on the news last night? I wanted to punch him. In the balls. Really f***ing hard.

@ Paddy – Blatter is an embarrassment, has been for a long time. But so are the FAI. They’re squandering the goodwill we’ve accrued, exposing the country to ridicule and for what… 33rd place in a 32 team tournament. FFS!

Aye, Blatter has always been a self-serving ass. And the FAI now stand with egg on their faces, but this really is a betrayl of confidence by Blatter.
The 33rd team was one of those stupid informal suggestions that occur at any meeting. FAI are supposed to exercise all possible avenues available to them and FIFA then shoot them down or discuss the more realistic ones. It’s how the system works.
The FAI would never have seen this as a realistic option. Blatter has managed to sour the situation further for me, his leaking of the info was deliberate and antagonistic. He spoke as if he had been dealing with the FAI as a distressed child.
We have been exposed to ridicule indeed, but we have been dealt the lesson that we can’t trust or place our confidence in FIFA on any level.

Don’t know all the ins and outs tbh Colin. Went to the IrishTimes.com to get the full scoop. Ended up getting distracted first by Tiger Woods statement, then by breaking news that Henry may be banned from the World Cup.
Holy God… As Ken says above, not a good week for Gilette.
