Seen them the other night, second time now. In great form all things considered. Thousands are sailing was a highlight

  2. brendan Says:

Does “all things considered” include that he can’t sing or barely stand up even most of the time??

  3. Ponyo Says:

Bit shaky but I wouldn’t say he can’t sing, he fairly belted out a couple of them with enough gusto to convince anyone. Im not a big fan of later stuff like “yeah yeah yeah” but his performance was great.
I think he’s in better shape generally than he was a few years ago. Even if its only for a few shows a year

  4. brendan Says:

Shane McGowan is like ireland’s spoiled grandson. No matter what he does we think the sun shines out of his arse. He’s a fat alcoholic prick who squandered his talent years ago. End of.

  5. Eoin Says:

@ bren – He also wrote The Broad Majestic Shannon, Rainy Night in Soho, A Pair of Brown Eyes and Fairytale of New York. Also, don’t say “End of.” It makes you sound like a wanker.

@ Ponyo – I’ve probably seen him live more times than I’ve seen any other artist. He’s limited in what he can do, and he’s shite as often as he’s good, but fuck it, got to love the guy.

  6. Ponyo Says:

Not wile sure what you mean Brendan. When you say “no matter what he does” what do you mean?
What are we the fans/or the population of Ireland in denial about?

Calling him fat is ridiculous. What has that got to do with anything?

He is an alcoholic, that is a fact. But then he always was. Many artists seem to lose that special thing whether or not they touch drink. For all you know the two things aren’t related at all.
