@ Kim – No. I did live in Stoneybatter with a large group of often rowdy friends when this was written, but, the incident was a complete fiction, inspired – if I recall correctly – by the Northern Ireland peace process.

The NI Peace Process!? I don’t remember batter burgers being an issue there. Methinks you should kindly elaborate a bit more there if at all possible.

No I just mean the way all these armed groups came forward, all self-important and unrepentant, and had to be taken seriously by the process, even tho most of them were little mpre than hoodlums and street criminals.
