THIS IS FUNNY
As previously mentioned, I’m a huge fan of Conan O’Brien and am, therefore, hugely disappointed to see that he’s been given the elbow after only seven months presenting The Tonight Show. Not to worry, he’ll be back. In the meantime, here he is at his best. Interviewing the world’s leading bread expert.

hahahaha – great clip!
Going off an a bit of tangent here… did you see Ringo Star and Ben Harper on The Daily Show? still cringing.

I did Kate, that was one weird segment!
So unlike Jon Stewart too to go perving over that violin player like that.
I suppose when you got Ringo Starr on your show the rules go out the window…

The Conan O’Brien move to the Tonight Show was always destined for disaster. NBC had to give him the show or face a $40m penalty (from deal they made in 2004). So they give him the show and then stick Leno on before him in primetime, another mistake by NBC.
This leads to A-listers still lining up for Leno’s show first, meanwhile since Conan is on earlier he has to tone down the adult humour (to american censors) further. Admittedly, the Show with Conan wasn’t great but it was still in it’s infancy.
With any luck he’ll end up on Fox probably in September. Would be even better if he took a pay hit and went to Comedy Central/HBO. Don’t see that happening though.
Few new funny things from all of this:
Jimmy Kimmel performing an entire episode of his chat show doing an impersonation of Jay Leno, complete with prosthetic chin. Then amazingly Leno invited him onto his show, Kimmel obliged and apparantly attacked Leno for the duration of his interview. It airs tonight in the U.S.
Conan posts the show for sale on Craiglist – http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/clt/1553543187.html
And finally deals are already being made to turn the whole farce into a tv movie.

Yeah, The Late Shift 2. I agree with pretty much all of that, Colin. Conan was brilliant on Late Night but his Tonight Show wasn’t always the best.
He did lots of things like blowing up cars and that pander to a low-brow audience. And Conan’s audience is not a low-brow audience.
Still there were hilarious moments. When he met the Korean guy in the NBC gift shop, Christ… I wept.
By his own admission, Late Night with Conan O’Brien was crap for the first three years. He should have been given time.
And Jay Leno, fucking hell – talk about the man they couldn’t kill. He’s like the Hillary Clinton of late night talk show hosts, except he won!
I’ll tell you if I was Jimmy Fallon or whoever else ends up succeeding him on the Tonight Show I’d put the bullet in him. And I’d do the job myself – to be absolutely sure!

Yeah, he’s the Rasputin of late night chat. Don’t be cheap with the bullets.
Once again, Conan puts it best – “It’s been a real honor to sit in the same chair as Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno and Jay Leno.”

I know what you mean about the Tonight Show not being as good as Late Night, but in fairness I think he needed at least a year before he fully settled into the new slot, and there were signs that his Tonight Show was really starting to find its feet.
Leno was given lots of time before he started beating Letterman in the ratings, but sadly, not Conan.

Absolutely David, I think I made the same point. They should have given him time.
Love the clip!

Remember Thai TV’s Sim’s style recreation of Tiger Woods’ car crash? Well they’ve done it again for Conan vs Leon!
