OBAMA = HITLER… OBVIOUSLY

There’s a line you’ll be familiar with from Yeats that has been repeated so many times, in so many contexts, as to have become rather hackneyed. You know, the one about the best lacking all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity. Its a cliche. But it’s hard to think of any recent debate to which that line might more appropriately have been applied than the push for healthcare reform currently underway in the U.S.

Obama’s pick for Irish ambassador meets with opposition from an unexpected quarter

Yesterday, Barack Obama announced the appointment of Dan Rooney as the next US ambassador to Ireland. In his speech, Obama cited Rooney’s longstanding support for Irish-American charitable causes. Now, normally, this would be a move-along-nothing-to-see-here story. HEADLINE OF THE YEAR…

Since Barack Obama came into office in January, headlines on the Huffington Post have frequently been funnier than those on The Onion. I’m an Obama fan myself, but the site’s excessive fawning over the new First Family is really embarrassing. And, when it comes to the Obama kids, also slightly creepy.
